Starbucks virtually eliminates training with Scoresby POS

(Seattle,
WA) Scoresby Interactive is pleased to announce that Starbucks'
new Point of Sale system has been placed in the fist pilot store—with
tremendous success. A few highlights from the first few days include the following.
- Minimal Training. The new system was used by at least 15 employees, some of which started using the system with no training at all. Others were able to start taking orders with only 3-5 minutes of orientation.
- Conversational Ordering. The new system reduces errors by allowing users to enter the order as the customer speaks it, and as they are used to writing it on the cup.
- Faster Service Times. Managers and employees reported that the new system allowed them to take orders faster due to a better flow and fewer voids.
- Better Accuracy. Large buttons and clear, unabbreviated text were just some of the ways we were able to help employees avoid making mistakes.
The success criteria for the new system came from Scoresby's initial meeting with Starbucks, and these served as the foundation for the original field studies, the design, and now the assessment of that design. The new system will be rolling out to more stores in the coming months.
